Road Trip Rewind Part 2 of 897

once again, we managed to cram a lot of activities in to just a few days on the farm. we do a lot of errand-running and my mom somehow ends up roping me in to doing her chores with her - ie: weed-pulling, rock-hauling, porch-cleaning, etc. weird how those things always need to be done when I'M around. hm.

then again, we also do a lot of bumming around and having fun. we managed to get to the country club a couple of times this trip for some lunch and swimming. i wasn't sure i'd be able to show my face there again after last year's poo-debacle. yep, i was THAT mom with THAT little kid. jasper had a poo in the baby pool. i don't even know what the point of swim diapers is anyway - it's not like they are actually holding anything in them. so mortifying. anyway, we made it without any poo-related issues, so that's good. don't think i didn't ask him every 3 minutes if he had to go poop, though.
and check this out - annie is totally swimming by herself. it just happened this summer - and i'm still so amazed by how it just clicked all of the sudden. so happy about that.

we climbed, got dizzy, had gator rides, had horsey rides, did some interpretive dance, played soccer, played golf...in fact, papa bought annie and jasper some new clubs and annie's clubs are real US Kids Golf clubs in a real - pink - golf bag and everything. so cute. so papa spent some time trying to turn annie in to Tigress Woods.

we had a campfire and roasted marshmallows and made s'mores while watching one million lightning bugs light up the sky. then, after the kiddos went to bed, we watched part of the meteor shower and saw some very cool shooting stars that went across the entire sky. you just can't beat the stars out in the country. unless you are up in the mountains.

one of my favorite things we did was present annie with my old dollhouse. my dad built this dollhouse for me when i was 5 years old and almost 30 years later she's still standing. sure, he needed to replace the roof and give her a new paint job, reinforce the walls and reinstall the stairs, but i think it looks awesome. still has some late '70's/early 80's wallpaper, but we did paint a few rooms for a little modern update. i also still had all my dollhouse furniture so i brought that and annie just thought it was so cool. those lamps actually work, people! how awesome is that?! anyway, it's one of those things i had always hoped i would be able to give to annie, and she played with it all week so i'd say it was a big hit.
so much fun. and yes, i played with it, too.
before i go i just have two words to leave you with: sweet corn. oh mama, the sweet corn! nothing like it in the whole world. i miss it already.

I'm still reeling from the second interpretive dance move Annie displayed. How does her leg go that way? Color me impressed....and envious. Love you and miss you SO much already. Could we have had ANY more fun in those 3 days? We did it all. Love, Molly
