i'm so annoyed right now. i just typed up my whole blog for the day and went to publish it and...gone. it just up and disappeared. "we're sorry for any inconvenience" is what i read on the screen. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! i know this means nothing to any of my readers, but now i have to try and recreate the whole thing i already typed and that is super annoying. super. annoying.

anyway. more annie-cdotes for your monday morning. so the other night i made tacos for dinner. annie and i were sitting there eating, she doing her usual dinnertime babbling and i doing my usual listening. at one point i poured some taco sauce on my plate and dipped my taco in it and the conversation that followed went like this:
a: "ketchup?"
g: "no, taco sauce."
a: (quizzically) "taco applesauce?"
g: (laughing) "no, just taco sauce."
a: (like i'm an idiot) "taco APPLEsauce, mommy?"
g: "nope, taco SAUCE. not applesauce. just sauce."
a: "taco sau...taco ss...taco applesauce?"
g: "yes. taco applesauce."
it was really quite funny. i think some of the humor is lost in translation, but you get the picture. half the fun is just the way she prounounces things and the looks she gives when she does so, so yeah, you readers aren't getting that part. that's the funny part. so wow, this must be incredibly dry, boring reading for you. speaking of pronounciations...i have another funny story about annie. oh kids, they say the darndest things. that richard linklater was on to something. hahahaahaha.
this story begins on saturday afternoon. i was trying to get the house cleaned because every sunday we have an open house. i set annie up on the computer to watch a "Dora" video so i could get some vacuuming done. this particular episode of Dora had a fairytale theme - complete with a wicked witch. every now and then the witch would appear on screen and annie would get all excited and go "Ah! AH AH AH!!" and she would point at the screen and stand on her chair and just have a coronary that Dora and Boots wouldn't see the witch. then, she opens her mouth and points and says "The Bitch! The Bitch! The Bitch, mommy!" and i'm dying inside. "The what? What is that?" "Bitch!" "You mean the witch?" (because i need to know if this is a mispronounciation or a bad word i've taught her) "Yes, Bitch!" Sigh. Whew. Escaped that one. it reminds me of my niece, Kaelyn (hi sweetie) and when she was about annie's age she would try to say "Block" and it always came out "Bfuck". man, you just can't make this stuff up! it's too good.

ok - we're creeping up on "quiet time" now. yes, i've resigned myself to calling it what it is. rarely is a nap involved. i figure if she can be quiet for 2 hours then that's good enough for me, and if she happens to fall asleep - all the better. ta ta for now!
