Last Day of School

annie's last day of school was yesterday and she had a swim party with her classmates. it was so cute - they had so much fun. slip 'n' slides, pools, sprinklers, beach balls, pizza, cupcakes...it just doesn't get better than that when you're 3. oh and don't forget the shaving cream. who would have thunk shaving cream could be so much fun? annie and her friends were using it and squishy balls to wash eacother. it was one of the more entertaining things i've seen.

at the end of the day when it was time to say our goodbyes that i began having my miss-susie-separation-anxiety. i think i was even hovering in the classroom because i didn't want to actually say goodbye. when annie gave her a hug i could see her getting choked up and then i was getting all choked up and...sigh. you just have no idea how special this woman is. she is the best. annie was so lucky to have her as an influence in her life. ahhhh. so then we get in the car after the party and annie says "so what's next?" and i said "now you have summer vacation and then you go back to school in the fall and you get to have a new teacher!" and she said "but i don't want a new teacher" and i totally felt her pain because how could it get any better than miss susie? but from what i hear her teacher next year is just as fabulous, so i'm sure she'll be fine.

anyway. a fun day was had by all - even jasper.

last night i told annie she could sleep in my bed with me since daddy was gone, but i told her she had to sing her prayer for me so i could video tape it and we would watch it (which she has now done over 1,000 times). for the longest time, she would never say this prayer on request, she always clammed up if she saw that we were watching her or something. this is the prayer they say at school before they eat and it's so cute, so now i have annie say this one at night too, because i love hearing it. my favorite thing about it is that at the end when she says "amen" it really sounds to me like she's saying "awwww man!"
